Community Fund

In 1975, the founders of the Placer County Contractor’s Association established a non-profit organization of contractors and construction related industries. The original charter established principles to uphold high industry standards and represent its members on issues that affect the construction industry. The charter members believed that by  preserving the integrity, honesty, and high standard of the building industry, the quality of construction, community enhancement and consumer protection would be secured.

The Placer County Builders Community Fund has been established to create an awareness of, and stimulate an interest in, job opportunities within the construction industry by providing financial assistance in the form of student scholarships.

The Requirements

This program is open to all high school graduating students from Foresthill, Colfax, Placer, Del Oro, Woodcreek, Oakmont, and Granite Bay High Schools including the children of staff and members of the Placer County Contractors Association. Children of members of the current Board of Directors of the Placer County Builders Community Fund and members of the current sitting “Scholarship Selection Committee” are ineligible.

Applicants to trade schools will be given the same consideration as those applying to junior colleges or four year colleges.

A minimum grade point average of 2.5 is required.

The student applicant must be furthering his / her education in vocational or construction industry-related programs such as (but not limited to): The licensed building trades, construction management, building construction technology, architecture, engineering and / or CAD technician.

Work experience in the construction industry or construction-related field is MANDATORY.

Finalist may be required to undergo a personal interview.

The Award

Five hundred dollar ($500.00) scholarships will be awarded. The successful applicant will receive written notification from the Placer County Community Fund Board of Directors. A $500.00 check and “Certificate of Award” will be given to the successful candidate at their high school’s “Scholarship Night” assembly.

The Process

Applications are available at your high school or at www.placerbx.com.  Completed applications, with required attachments, must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on April 30th , 2014 to be considered.
